Wild animals, including some endangered species, are found on my wheel thrown porcelain pottery. Wildlife such as flamingos, zebras, giraffes, and elephants, as well as rhinos and hippos inhabit my porcelain zoo. There is even a whimsical warthog, immodest in its pose. Each piece is decorated with fascinating portraits from the animal kingdom. Using the combined techniques of engobe and sgraffito, I carve the designs into my utilitarian porcelain pottery. Unlike most pottery on the market, which is "mass-molded" and production oriented, I hand throw and hand carve each piece, one at a time. These wildlife vessels are original works of art.
Besides being a unique permanent piece of art, my work is also utilitarian. Casseroles, canisters, bakers and vases can be used, put through the dishwasher, and then placed around your home for you to enjoy.
